‘..the pleasure of fishing this delightful river, with its extensive beats, its constant array of fish, and enchanting variety of pools, never wanes. Long may such fishing endure!’ – John Ashley Cooper, A Salmon Fisher’s Odyssey

The river Naver has some of the best salmon fishing in Scotland. Skelpick tenants fish four rods on the river Naver, two rods on the rotating Skelpick Beat and two rods on the Private Water, and are provided with knowledgeable ghillies.

The river Naver is divided into six rotating beats, the Private Water and the Association Water and covers 18 miles. Starting from Loch Naver, the river flows from the heathery upland, down through birch and alder woods, meandering across hay fields, before widening out through the lower flood plains.

Skelpick tenants are uniquely able to fish the whole of the river. The Skelpick Beat is one of the six rotating beats which enables tenants to fish a different beat each day. The Private Water is a productive two mile stretch exclusive to Skelpick. It consists of eight pools just above the tidal water including the famous fast flowing pools, the Cruives and Telford, and the quiet glide of the Squab.

Over the past ten years Skelpick rods have averaged 349 salmon, this rises to 400 salmon over the last five years.
